I know that I talk about how I love Google Chrome and the speed and security benefits from using it but some computer users still like using Microsoft Internet Explorer. Â So I wanted to create a post on how to get the latest version of Internet Explorer. Â If you are a tried and true user of Internet Explorer, please leave me a comment below telling me what you like best about Internet Explorer. Â That would be great! Â I always like to hear from my readers.
There are many ways that you can get the latest version of Internet Explorer, but I would like to show you on of my favorite ways.  Also, if you have the question what is the latest version of Internet Explorer, then this post will help you as well. Â
Ok, here we go…
How to download the latest version of Internet Explorer:
1. Â You can do this from any Internet browser that you are using
2.  Go to http://ie.microsoft.com and you will see the download page
3. Â Click the drop down box to select your version of Microsoft Windows
4. Â You will either be running a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows. Â If you are not sure which version you are running, then just click the “Which version do I have” button for instructions to find out. Â I can tell you up front…, click on the Start button, Right Click on Computer and you will see either 32 bit operating system or 64 bit operating system in the dialog box. Â Hope that helps. Â :)
5. Â Click the Blue “Download Now” link to download the installer and run the file that is downloaded.
You may have already received Internet Explorer latest download automatically. Â Microsoft has made it part of their Windows Update Service, which delivers the latest important updates to your computer. Â To find out more about Windows Update, and to ensure that you have it turned on, click the Start button, in the search box, type Windows Update.
Well, there you have it. Â How to get the latest version of Internet Explorer and as an added bonus, how to check for your Windows Updates which includes application updates and security updates to help you stay up to date and secure.
Hope this helps someone.

Can you believe it? Â Facebook just changed the email address to your @facebook.com address in the About section of your timeline. Â Go check it out. Â Who uses their @facebook address? Â I know I don’t. Â I already have about 10 email addresses it seems and I DON’T need another one…thank you Mr. Facebook.
If memory serves me correctly, Facebook launched an email system with their @facebook.com accounts and no one seemed to use it. Â I know I didn’t. Â I mean, it’s cool if they want to have their own email system, but let me decide which email system that I want to use with the social media app of my choice. Â
If anyone got a notice stating that they were doing this, I would love to know. Â Please leave me a comment and make sure you let me know how you feel about this change. Â Hey…you may like it.
If you want your preferred email address to show up in the About section of Facebook then follow the steps below:
1. Â Go to your Timeline
2. Â Click on the About Section
3. Â Scroll down to the Contact Section and click Edit
4. Â Now you need to decide which Facebook email address you would like to show on your Facebook Timeline. So let’s change our default Facebook email address. Â Change the email address you want to show by using the dropdown arrow to say Shown in Timeline and it will change to a full circle. Â Change your other email address(es) that you don’t want to show to Hide in Timeline with a crossed through circle.
5. Â Click the Save Button
I found the following explanation from the http://www.producermatthew.com website:
As we announced back in April, we’ve been updating addresses on Facebook to make them consistent across our site.
In addition to everyone receiving an address, we’re also rolling out a new setting that gives people the choice to decide which addresses they want to show on their timelines.
Ever since the launch of timeline, people have had the ability to control what posts they want to show or hide on their own timelines, and today we’re extending that to other information they post, starting with the Facebook address.
A Facebook spokesperson, in an email sent to me today regarding several press reports on Facebookâs decision to switch the default email account on a personâs Facebook timeline with a Facebook-provided email address, as outlined by LifeHacker.
Hope this helps someone!

What a great world that we work in today as far as technology goes. Â Things will get easier and we will also be able to do more and more through technology as each day passes. Â Setting up remote access to your workstation is no exception.
I can remember back in the mid 1980’s when I began working with computers…this was not an option. Â The reason I love working with computers so much is that they are always changing and evolving. Â In 1984, having remote access to my PC XT….haha. Â Now this is a built in option.
Let’s see how to setup Remote Access on your Windows 7 Workstation:Â
1. Â Click on the Start Button
2. Â Right Click on My Computer
3. Â Click on Properties
4. Â Click on Remote Settings
5. Â You will now be presented with the Remote Settings System Properties box as follows:
6. Â In the Remote Desktop section at the bottom, you have three options to use. Â The following is Microsoft’s explanation of these options:
Once you have chosen an option, click Apply and then OK.
What types of Remote Desktop connections should I allow?
To allow another computer to connect to your computer using Remote Desktop Connection, you must allow the connection by choosing the appropriate setting on the Remote tab in System Properties. To open this tab, follow these steps:
The following information will help you decide which setting to choose:
Network Level Authentication is an authentication method that completes user authentication before you establish a full Remote Desktop connection and the logon screen appears. This can help protect the remote computer from hackers and malicious software. The advantages of Network Level Authentication are:

It seems that everyone is concerned with privacy these days. If you are like me, you probably get tons of standardized letters from companies these days telling you their privacy policies. Now there is some good bed time reading. How about checking in at a doctor’s office….you have to sign that privacy statement. Everyone also seems to be concerned with internet privacy.
Companies are trying to gather information about us everywhere we go these days. Do you give out your email address to a store when you are buying a new pair of jeans at the checkout counter? Personally, I decline but that is just me.
Now there is a new thing (well not that new) called geolocation which described in Wikipedia is the identification of the real-world geographic location of an object, such as a radar, mobile phone or an Internet-connected computer terminal. Geolocation may refer to the practice of assessing the location, or to the actual assessed location. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geolocation
Have you ever checked into a location on Facebook? Each time we do this, the information is gathered into a database for marketers to use to market to us. Now, this is good and bad in my opinion. The marketers know where we visit and can send specific advertisements our way and also they can track where we like to go. Have you ever noticed in Facebook how the ads on the right hand side are things relevant to our likes? Tracking our internet activity…… The one good thing is that you may get get a coupon on something you want to purchase.
By default, certain websites request your geolocation and they are tracking that information. If you are not keen on wanting this in some database in some disclosed location, you can turn this feature off. I am not sure who is using this information from particular website servers that track this information but I don’t want someone to know that I am out of town and my house is empty. I would love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments section.
How do you turn off the feature “Never allow websites to request your physical location” in Internet Explorer 9. Follow the steps below:
1. Click on the Start Button
2. Click on Control Panel
3. Click on Internet Properties
4. Click on the Privacy Tab
5. Locate the Never allow websites to request your physical location option under the Location section
6. Click in the checkbox to the left
7. Click OK
There you have it …. now you don’t have to worry about how can I stop websites from tracking my location.
Hope this helps someone. Please leave me a comment, I would really like to hear your thoughts on internet privacy.
What is Auto Play in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7? Â Well according to http://wikipedia.org, it is:
AutoPlay, a feature introduced in Windows XP, examines newly discovered removable media and devices and, based on content such as pictures, music or video files, launches an appropriate application to play or display the content. It is closely related to the AutoRunoperating system feature. AutoPlay was created in order to simplify the use of peripheral devices â MP3 players, memory cards, USB storage devices and others â by automatically starting the software needed to access and view the content on these devices. AutoPlay can be enhanced by AutoPlay-compatible software and hardware. It can be configured by the user to associate favourite applications with AutoPlay events and actions.
Basically,Auto Play settings are what automatically controls what happens when a particular action is performed in or on your computer. Â For example, when you place a CD or DVD in your disk drive, these auto play settings tell your computer what to do when that action takes place. Â Meaning, do you want Windows Media Player to automatically start up and begin playing your music from the audio CD without you having to do anything when you insert the CD… or do you want it to take no action or display the contents of the CD.
There are a number of settings for specific programs within Windows 7 that this can control. Â You can change settings for your CD/DVD drive, Pictures, Blank CD/DVD’s, etc.
Based on your preferences, all these can be changed by following the steps below. Â My suggestion would be to set them to Take No Action or Ask Every Time. Â In today’s world with all the security issues out in the wild. Â You will probably want to have more control.
Here are the steps to take:
1. Â Click on the Start Button
2. Â Click on Control Panel
3. Â Click on Default Programs
5. Â Click the drop down arrows on the sections that you would like to change
Please feel free to leave me a comment if you should have any questions.
Hope this helps!

Have you ever installed a web browser other than Internet Explorer like Firefox and when the install was done you found out that Firefox (or the new browser) is now your default browser. This happens to a lot of us when we are not paying close attention to the install instructions. We just forget to uncheck a little box. Most software programs want their program to be the default.
There are a number of ways to take care of this, but this is one of the simplest. I hope that this youtube video will help you.
Just like Internet Explorer 9, the new Firefox 4 version has a similar toolbar with their default installation. It does not show you all the bells and whistles directly on the toolbar. With a few clicks however, you can see all those icons again. I would like to show you in the video below how to print in Firefox version 4 and add some of those icons.
