How to add the Run command to your Start Menu

As one who used Windows XP for many years and then switched to Windows 7 some time ago, I have something that I wish they would have put back as a default option.  I wish they would have added the RUN command back to the Start Menu.  I know that Windows 7 has the Search bar right above the Start button and you can use it, but I think of it for just searching your computer for specific files.  But thank goodness, there is a way to put the Run Command box back on the Start Menu.  I guess I am a creature of habits of sorts.  Don’t get me wrong, I do like change …. if not, I would not love computers and information technology…haha.  Give me back my Run Command….here is how:

  • Click the Start button
  • Click Control Panel
  • Click Taskbar and Start Menu
  • Click the Start Menu tab at the top
  • Click Customize on the right
  • Arrow down until you see Run Command and place a check in the box to the left
  • Click Apply
  • Click OK

Now you will have the Run Command when you click the Start button…

Hope this helps someone like me.  :)

Happy computing!

How to set Internet Explorer as your default browser

Have you ever installed a web browser other than Internet Explorer like Firefox and when the install was done you found out that Firefox (or the new browser) is now your default browser.  This happens to a lot of us when we are not paying close attention to the install instructions.  We just forget to uncheck a little box.  Most software programs want their program to be the default.

There are a number of ways to take care of this, but this is one of the simplest.  I hope that this youtube video will help you.

Happy computing!
